In year 1947, a 19 year old boy witnessed the birth of a new country, sixty years later he becomes the identity of that very nation; his journey was long and exemplary.
Abdul Sattar Edhi was not just a philanthropist, he was the face of the foundation on which all the religions are built. He was not just a humanitarian, he was a reminder sent from God. Reminder for the hearts beating inside bodies which are governed by self-absorbed whims, a reminder that deep down the façade of your religion, caste, creed and social status your hearts beat for compassion and empathy, your soul starves for the satisfaction it gets out of acting, working and being for the ones in need; your dignity resuscitates when you become selfless; your breaths make a difference when they share sorrows and joys of those around you. From a boy who used to get 2 paisas for lunch money, one for him and the other one for a needy, to an old man who after living for others donated his eyes as a parting gift to humanity- Edhi was an epitome of altruism. Edhi foundation started from 5000 rupees and priceless devotion, has now reached out millions of humans in and outside Pakistan. #Edhism is a legacy, a gift for us and a cure, a relief for the wounded humanity.
Edhi Sahib, this nation is indebted to you for your six decades of ceaseless service and whenever a helpless soul will take refuge in your shelters or your help will reach out to the victims of a calamity or the sirens of your ambulances will blare on the roads off to rescue another life, we will stand owing a debt of gratitude to you.

May your kind heart be rewarded by the Most Merciful and Most Compassionate, may He grant you highest place in Jannah. Ameen.
